Information for Prospective PhD Students
Our group is interdisciplinary and
is made up of students from several departments at USC: Electrical Engineering,
Materials Science, Physics, and Chemistry.
We recruit new students and postdocs every year.
Interested students should apply to
the PhD program of any of the above-mentioned departments, based on your
background and preference:
1. For
the PhD Program of Electrical Engineering, you must submit your application by

If you have any of the following
skills, please mention in your email and give details:
§ Research
experience on nanoscience and nanotechnology, especially on the synthesis and
characterization of carbon nanotubes, nanowires, and graphene.
§ Undergraduate
and/or graduate coursework in nanoscience and nanotechnology, solid state
physics, semiconductor physics and devices, material characterization,
electrochemistry, energy conversion and storage.
§ Class
projects related to nanoscience and nanotechnology.
§ Experimental
microfabrication / nanofabrication experience, experience working in a clean
room, or experience with microfluidics.
§ Experimental
experience in material characterization, such as SEM, XRD, AFM, Raman, and TEM.
§ Experimental
experience in biochemistry and biomedical research.
§ Experience
with modeling and simulation of nanostructures and nanoscale devices
§ Strong
oral and written English communication skills, and teamwork experience.
